Why Isn’t The Law of Attraction Working?

When the law of attraction first came into public awareness approximately 20 years ago, with the writings of Ester and Jerry Hicks and Rhonda Byrne, the thinking was that if you thought positive thoughts, you would attract positive things into your life. This notion was taken very seriously, to the point that many started consciously watching each thought and each word, lest it produce negative consequences. But after a while people began to realize that this wasn’t really working.
So, it was thought it best to include emotions into the paradigm. Now we were not only to think positive but we were to feel positive as well. Well, it turns out that that didn’t work so well either, so then we started exploring the deeper regions of the psyche for that saboteur. The shadow was now the culprit who was keeping us from fulfilling our dreams. But since we didn’t know much about how to work with the unconscious, we sought out healers who were to cut the chords to that old dark material and we would then be free, finally to work our vision boards and affirmations so that our dreams would finally come true. But alas, because in order to work with unconscious material we have to make it conscious, that didn’t work either.
So, what is the problem? It is possible that the whole thing is just unfounded? Well, before we throw the baby out with the wash, we might want to consider the possibility that we need to revise the law. And if we are going to do that, we might want to find out if the soul is really in agreement with the way we are taught to work with this law. For if the soul is actually in charge and the soul doesn’t want to work the way the law of attraction has us working, then the law is not going to work.
Well, it turns out that the soul is in charge and we are not meant to be striving moment-by-moment to bring home the bacon of that financial windfall or that big house in the mountains. That’s just not what it’s all about. It’s about the soul.
The soul’s efforts are always fruitful. That old Bible scripture: My word shall not return to me empty” found in Isaiah 55:11, tells the real story. The soul will accomplish all that it incarnates to accomplish in a given lifetime. And what the soul wants is for us to come to know ourselves as the divine beings we are. It wants us to get in touch with the deepest essence of who we are as Divine Self. And that’s its only intention. Why? Because once upon a time, in a faraway land, long ago, we all took on the duality trance state as our way of seeing ourselves. Because form was created by formlessness, and because every creative endeavor involves the perpetuation of infinite possibility, form asked itself–am I now separate from formlessness, since we appear to be so different?
We’ve been trying to answer that question ever since. So, our entire journey–incarnation after incarnation–is all about finally coming back to the place where we recognize form and formlessness as One. When we do finally unite form and formlessness in our conscious experience, the entire Universe will change and shift into the next stage of evolutionary soul desire.
So, we are not attracting based on our conscious efforts to think positive thoughts and feel positive feelings–an exercise in repression. And we are not attracting based on our efforts to march into the unconscious wearing our army boots and kicking over the gravestones of unresolved issues so that we can kick out any “negative” thoughts and feelings that might arise from that issue–a further exercise in more repression.
Rather we are attracted to and by all of those people, places, events, circumstances and relationships which will bring us to closer and closer awareness of who we are as divine beings–form united with formlessness as conscious experience. Everything that occurs in our lives is brought about for that one reason–so that we can come to know who we really are, below all the masks and costumes of survival.
We can relax then into the flow of life and trust that we are always getting there. We can stop trying to push the river by demanding that the Universe comply with our silly little bargains that IF we think only positive thoughts, and feel only positive feelings, THEN we will get everything we want in life. We are getting everything our souls want constantly and we live in an ever evolving loop of soul desire and fulfillment. So, the question isn’t how can I fulfill my dreams for the external to make me happy. The question is, “Who am I really?” And the answer isn’t to strive after a totally positive mind and totally positive feelings so that the Universe will come into compliant with our dualistic version of life. The answer is to be still, step into the stillness, step into the silence of beingness to find out who we are.

Today is our country’s 236th birthday, and today she moves from a Personal Year of 7 to a Personal Year of 8 – two very different vibrations. First, let’s review the past year.
Review
During a 7 Personal Year emphasis is placed on revealing hidden conditions, introspection, mental housecleaning, and spiritual pursuits. Emphasis is also placed on research, study, and developing expertise. These conditions obviously exist in any Personal Year; however, in a 7 year they are emphasized so that if you haven’t made time for mental housecleaning, for example, conditions will present events that will encourage you to evaluate your life in some way. The vibration of a new Personal Year begins its influence up to three months before the Personal Year begins.
Scandal
Scandal is one way that hidden conditions are revealed. During theU.S.’s 7 Personal Year there were 12 sex scandals involving American Federal politicians; more than in any previous year. In the previous 10 years, there were 20 (approximately 2 per year), in the 10 years previous to that approximately 10, decreasing significantly as we move backwards in time.
Other scandals involving the U.S. government came to light: Solyndra (loaned hundreds of millions and then going bankrupt), Fast and Furious (gun running by the ATF), Secret Service agents (inappropriate behavior while on duty), the GSA using tax-payer money to party on big time, and secret loans by the Federal Reserve to Wall Street aristocracy.
The case against Jerry Sandusky is still in trial, with accusations going back more than 30 years, not to mention the emergence of new sexual abuse cases by Catholic clergy, and the Schwarzenegger scandal.
At the risk of sounding flippant, a great many people missed the opportunity to re-evaluate their lives.
Unfinished Business
The number 7 is about allowing things to evolve naturally rather than using force to accomplish goals. Even though the Supreme Court upheld the healthcare law, so many people feel forced into something they don’t want that this issue is not finished and will be carried over into the number 8 vibration. A more conciliatory and inclusive approach to this whole issue, including a fair restructuring of healthcare in the U.S., may have enabled our leaders to have a solid plan to put in place this year.
Release
Revealing hidden conditions can also provide release from pressure. When Osama bin Laden’s hidden location was discovered, his assassination was considered by many to be a relief on many levels. The repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” released gays in the military from living in secrecy.
Spiritual Awakening
Ed Halliwell’s article in the guardian (U.K.), says that meditation is on the increase in conservative America.
Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan just published “A Mindful Nation,” a how-to book on meditation, which has been called inspiring and pragmatic.
PR Newswire, in an article on meditation inAmerica, talks about a book by Sarah McLean, contemporary meditation expert and author of “Soul-Centered: Transform Your Life in 8 Weeks with Meditation.”
Indications are that we in the U.S. are embarking on a more spiritual way of life by taking steps to reduce stress and become more authentic.
Now let’s move on to our country’s number 8 Personal Year, today being the first day of a completely different vibration.
Number 8 Personal Year for theU.S.A.
This year is about power, energy, force, discipline, and good judgment. It will emphasize action, leadership, and executive ability. It’s a good year for business and financial success if good judgment and discipline are exercised.
The Presidential Election
The next President will be the one who can convince us that he is fiscally responsible, and that he is a man of action with a positive attitude who knows how to run a business. He will inspire confidence if he can be a fair and objective leader who can work with Congress by taking a balanced view of an issue rather than a partisan view.
Power
There will be events which will require theU.S.to use its power wisely in the international arena, standing up for its principles without pushing others around. It is a year to demonstrate leadership in a team environment.
Power can emerge in a negative way inWashingtonthis year, even more than usual. Politicians will have to rein in their egos if they want to be successful.
The Fun Part
The up side is that this is a joyful, active energy with lots of positive accomplishment when people can keep from getting bogged down in unimportant details and in taking things personally.

How 2012 – A 5 Universal Year – Affects Our Lives

January 1 marked a change from the slow but sure 4 energy of 2011 to the faster, more exciting vibration of the 5 Universal Year (2+0+1+2=5). Five is the number of freedom and change, bringing surprises, excitement, and sometimes upset into our lives. The Universal Year number is a background influence, like background music that plays as we go about our day. It is a subtle influence on our personal year number. Five can speed things up and create excitement as well as resistance. Changes offer opportunities to expand and experience more freedom in our lives. Freedom often requires that we take risks, so sometimes the 5 energy takes us out of our comfort zone. Upsets occur when we resist change, and they are an indication that it’s time to let go of the old and welcome the new. If you are in a 5 Personal Year, you will experience the qualities of the number 5 more intensely now.
The United States is in an 8 Personal Year now. What does that mean to us? The U.S. Personal Year number influences everyone who lives here. Eight is the number of leadership, money, and material possessions which, in terms of a country, is its economic system. The U.S. Personal Year began on July 4, and was the perfect time to implement practical ways to strengthen our economic system. Instead, we saw inaction. But it’s not too late.
The Occupy Wall Street phenomenon, which began in September, is an example of citizens taking action when their government is not supporting their needs. It is a natural expression of the number 8, the number of dynamic action and decisiveness. Granted, Occupy Wall Street could have happened during any U.S. Personal Year, but this year, the invisible river of Personal Year energy was already flowing in that direction. This is just another example of Personal Year energy expressing itself automatically. Perhaps the number 5 will bring about changes that will encourage more decisive leadership.
How can we benefit from the number 5 vibration? One way is to see our economic situation as an opportunity to let go of old ideas and welcome new approaches. We could look at the changes in our economic position as events that are encouraging us to think differently. It’s challenging to let go of old ways, but embracing new ways can lead to freedom.
We are already seeing big changes this year in the Republican presidential race, with one candidate surging forward only to be pushed back by another one coming up from behind. The presidential election could be a white-knuckle horse race to the very end, with a surprise winner.
Finally, the number 5 features strongly with respect to December 21 when certain planetary conditions occur, which most of us have heard of but don’t know too much about. I’d like to talk about them in more detail, but they are too intricate to go into here. There are many opinions and speculations about how these conditions will affect us, and astronomers and astrologers disagree with each other, interpreting planetary activity in different ways. Typical of the number 5, we will see changes that may surprise or upset us.

Our beloved country today enters its Number 7 Personal Year. 7 is about spiritual and mental housecleaning, introspection, study, research, exploration – digging for the truth. It can be a quiet year, but there can be dramatic surprises when the truth is revealed.
It is a time to allow developments to unfold naturally rather than to force issues. Forcing anything will result in frustration. Mediation and give and take will lead to effective solutions rather than attempting to enforce rigid standards.
Many ideas are proposed as solutions, but they are not always practical. Some ideas proposed this year may be more effectively executed next year.
This is a year for creative solutions.
I wonder how our linear-minded American institutions will handle this non-linear, creative vibration.

The Power of Eleven – World-Changing Events. Coincidences?

Today is 11/11, a day of powerful and mystical energy. Many people have been noticing the number 11 in their lives lately. They seem to look at the clock exactly at 11:11, they see 11 in its different expressions (11, 111, 1111, etc.) in addresses, on signs, license plates, in change back from purchases, you name it.
Eleven is a Master Number and carries with its power the quality of responsibility. It is the number of mystical revelation. It is the number of awakening and is a gateway of manifestation. It means you have opportunities to manifest change in your life, that the energy is right for accomplishing long-awaited goals, for breakthroughs, for enlightenment. It is a time of activation, to wake up to opportunity.
The number 11 is encoded with the energy of remembrance. It has the power to help you recall that you are a Master of Light, that this is the time to fulfill your potential at a higher level, perhaps beyond your comfort zone. The number 11 prompts you to look around and sharpen your perception – to recognize what’s real and what is illusion.
As someone who has 11 in her Chaldean Soul Chart, I know the power of this number. It is my Direction (Birth Date) number and means that my career has to be inspiring to me because I came to inspire others. Elevens are focused on spirit. However, many of us are unfulfilled by religion and seek answers elsewhere. I’ve been fascinated by the occult all my life. The most important symbol of the United States, after the Stars and Stripes, is the Eagle. This verse is from the Koran:
“For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah. While some of the people trembled in despair, still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace.”
