How to Spend $1000 in an Hour

Prada Store on Rodeo

That’s easy. I would go to Nordstrom’s and buy clothes. I’d rather shop at Bloomingdale’s, but there isn’t one in this part of the country, and if I took a plane to D.C., it would eat up some of that beautiful clothes money.

I would buy several pairs of shoes, which N’s is famous for and rightly so. At least one pair would have to be patent leather and one pair would have to be 4″-heel platform sandals in metallic (gold or bronze). No flats and no gym shoes. The shoes have to be wild, but not slutty.

Next would be the silk department. Anything silk. Some beautiful animal-print tops, floral print tops, plain tops. Then out of the silk department to find some great jeans. Then a beautiful blazer/jacket in silk or cotton. I’m figuring I’d have enough left to buy a pair of gold hoop earrings, so I’d do that.

That would be it. I could to that in an hour with one hand tied behind my back.

Afterward, I would meet a girlfriend or two for some really good Margueritas along with gloating and gossip.

What a fun day!

The Unquiet Dead

Even though the title of this article may seem dramatic, the subject matter is real. It involves disembodied spirits who have died in confusion and attached themselves to living people. It happens every day. I am not talking about so-called demons, highly-confused souls believed to exist in other realms. I am referring to people who have been on earth in a physical body and who have died in a state of confusion.

Psychic healers have known about this phenomenon for thousands of years. The clinical psychologist and hypnotherapist, Dr. Edith Fiore, discovered it through working with her patients. As a result of her experiences, she wrote the book, The Unquiet Dead, in the late 1980s. Like Dr. Fiore, I have had a great deal of experience freeing the living of disembodied spirits. Basically, the treatment is to guide the spirit to the light and help the living person resolve the issue that attracted it.

How do spirits get attached to people? According to those who have had near-death experiences, the process of death follows a pattern. The soul leaves the body, and is attracted to a brilliant light which leads it to a place of infinite love and peace. If a person dies in a confused state, he or she becomes earth bound. There may not be a light to follow, the spirit may not notice the light if it is there, or the spirit is afraid of the light and will not follow it.

Very often, the spirit is not aware that it has passed on and thinks it still has a body. It may try to speak to or touch people and does not understand when they don’t respond. Disembodied spirits are attracted to people of similar vibration, and seek attachment. For example, if a person is feeling depressed and stays depressed for a length of time, he or she could attract a depressed disembodied spirit. The person’s depression usually becomes more intense when this happens.

Basically, we can attract a confused soul if we live in a confused state. For example, a heavy smoker who cannot seem to quit smoking could be influenced by a disembodied soul or souls who loved to smoke when they had bodies. The same is true for any compulsive behavior; eating, drinking, drug use, or sex. Confused souls crave the addictions they had before they died and will do anything in their power to experience them once again. If you have an addiction, you may have an outside influence adding to your own habit.

Almost everyone either is or has been influenced by disembodied spirits. It’s a common occurrence. A symptom of outside influences is lack of control. If you have anger issues and your anger becomes uncontrollable, you probably have outside help. If you can’t seem to break a habit, if you can’t seem to get yourself out of the doldrums, if you have bizarre thoughts, if you hear voices, if you are irritable or fearful in situations that normally wouldn’t call for these reactions, if you exhibit uncharacteristic or inappropriate behaviors, if you have memory problems or trouble concentrating, you may have an outside influence.

Sometimes with organ transplants, the recipient takes on characteristics and preferences of the donor, who may be watching over the organ he or she donated or may be watching over the recipient. I can’t say this is always the case, as this phenomenon could also be related to cellular memory. However, it’s always a good idea to investigate.

Confused souls congregate in certain places. There are many confused souls in hospitals. People who have died in pain or fear or under the influence of drugs can become confused souls. Patients sometimes come home from the hospital accompanied by a confused soul. There are confused souls who are attached to funeral homes or cemeteries. Bars, cocktail lounges, night clubs, and rock concerts or anyplace where hallucinogenic drugs are used, are other places where confused souls can be. If someone is in a vulnerable emotional state or in a weak state of health, he or she may attract one or more of these souls. People in mental hospitals and prisons are under the influence of confused souls.

Relatives who have died sometimes become earth bound. My experience has been that relatives may stay around to take care of family members. I consider these earthbound souls, even if they don’t seem to be a negative influence and family members are comforted by their presence. My opinion is that when we die, we have other opportunities in other realms, and we need to move on.

Some souls visit family and friends to say goodbye before moving on, and some will not move on until distraught family members are in acceptance of their death. I remember when the father of a friend of mine passed on. He came to me almost immediately after he died. He was very upset because his wife was hysterical with grief. He said to me, “Tell her I’m alright! Tell her I’m alright!” Over and over again he repeated it until I was able to reassure him that I would give his wife the message. He was at peace with his death; it was his wife he was concerned about. I delivered the message, and he went on. It’s important that we who are left behind allow our loved ones to go on in peace, even though we grieve.

Some of my family members have been attracted to me after death because they know I can help them. They may not be sure how I can help them, or even that they need help, but somehow they know they need to be with me. Some time after my grandfather died I started experiencing dizzy spells. I didn’t know what was causing them. I was in school at the time taking training in metaphysics and energy work. During a counseling session, the counselor discovered my grandfather, who was trying to get into my body. This was the cause of the dizzy spells. She helped him move into the light, and I had no  dizzy spells until years later.

This time I recognized the feeling and discerned that my favorite aunt who had recently died was trying to get into my body. She was confused and didn’t know where to go or what to do. She was accompanied by another aunt who had died a couple of years before. A third aunt, who had died years before and whom I had assisted into the light, had brought them to me. I was happy to be able to clarify their situation and send them into the light.

I had a client who came to me because she had suicidal thoughts. After carefully interviewing her, I discerned that she wasn’t a suicidal person and asked her if she knew anyone who had committed suicide. She had an aunt who had killed herself. I worked with her aunt and assisted her into the light. My client felt that I had saved her life, as coming to me was her last resort before killing herself.

If you suspect that you may have an outside influence, there are two things you can do. First, make the commitment to heal the negative thinking that is attracting outside influences. You are likely to need professional help with this. When you have resolved the issues that make you attractive to outside influences, they will move on to friendlier territory. The founder of the Americana Leadership College, Francisco Coll, where I received my education in psychic development, used to tell a little joke about this: What did the mama spook say to the baby spook? “Don’t spook until you’re spooken to.” Confused souls can only be present in energy like theirs. They have no power in positive energy.

The second thing you can do is monitor your energy. Learn to cleanse and clear your energy and practice this every morning when you get up and every night when you go to bed, in addition to any time you feel unfocused, stressed, tired, fearful, angry, depressed, or any other negative emotion.

Here are two simple and powerful clearing processes you can use. The first one is a physical process. Rub your hands together for a few seconds to charge your energy. Then pass your hands over your head and down the back of your neck. Shake your hands to recharge the energy, and repeat the process until you feel relaxed and refreshed.

The second one is a mental process. You can do it anywhere at any time. Visualize (or imagine, if that is easier for you) a brilliant point of white light in your solar plexus area. Visualize or imagine the light expanding until it fills your body. Expand the light further until it surrounds you in a big ball of white light. Notice how peaceful and relaxed you feel. You can repeat an affirmation during these processes, such as “In the name of the Creator within me, I cleanse my body, I cleanse my soul.”

How I Got My Name

Numerology showed me a new way to look at names.

People have great stories about how they got their names. Some people are named according to traditions, such as being named after a parent or grandparent. Some parents choose names according to what the name means, others choose names they like the sound of, some names are a combination of the parents’ two names, and some people are named after family friends or after someone who has impressed their parents in some way, or after a favorite relative.

My naming story is not very exciting. I don’t know anything about it except that my mother didn’t want her children having names that could be easily turned into nicknames. She was pretty formal in the name department.

When my son was born, my husband and I had several names under consideration, and we hadn’t yet come to a decision. When our baby was five days old, I figured it was time he had a name. I put my preference forth, and it was rejected without a counter suggestion. So I played my Ace, threatening to give him my father’s middle name, which was totally unacceptable to my husband. My preference it was.

When I became a numerologist, my concept of naming completely changed. As I saw how accurately the numbers derived from people’s names described their personalities, I came to the realization that there was another influence at work in naming babies – spirit. Somehow the names of the incoming souls were communicated to their parents so that these same souls would have an accurate blueprint to follow when they arrived here. Whether this information comes from the incoming soul or the soul’s spiritual helpers, or a combination of the two, is not of primary concern to me. My experience tells me that names are not casually or accidentally arrived at, even if it seems so.

Your name is so important. It is your spiritual blueprint while you are here on earth. It holds the keys to your ultimate success in life. If you follow your blueprint, you will be fulfilled. I invite you to read more of my posts about this fascinating subject. Click on the Lulu link and you will find my book, “You Were Born To Succeed: Finding Your Purpose through Numerology.” It contains the instructions on how to discover your soul’s blueprint. Join the adventure!

For a private consultation with me, email I will answer any questions you have about your blueprint, or cast your Chaldean Soul Chart and interpret it for you.

I am so excited to be a numerologist. I love introducing people to their spiritual nature and showing them how to increase their personal success quotient. We live in two worlds, the spiritual and the physical. True success means being fulfilled in both.

Would You Like to Dance?

I would love to dance! Used to do it all the time when I had a social life in high school and college. I loved going to proms and other formal functions dressed up in my evening gown with matching shoes, a corsage, and my hair all done up pretty. I loved going dancing in spike heels into the wee hours at clubs around town with my boyfriend of the moment.

I like fast and slow dancing. I took ballroom dancing lessons in the 6th or 7th grade, and Latin dancing in college. My favorite was the jitterbug – yes, the jitterbug. Touchless dancing was just beginning to emerge when I was in high school. At my school, it started with the Dirty Boogie. You dropped something on the floor for the boy to pick up while gyrating your hips and getting as close as possible without touching. It was too risque for me, and I never had the courage to do it.

Then there was the Madison, the Twist, the Jerk, the Pony, the Swim, and a bunch of other line dances and derivatives of the Twist, the Jerk, etc. All fun. But slow dancing never goes out of style, and everybody knows how to do it; even the boys who didn't know how to dance. It was hard to find a good dancer. Sometimes you just had to make do.

I don't think I could make it half-way through a slow dance now. I don't know how Florence Henderson did it on "Dancing with the Stars", but I was jealous. Of course, I could work out, get in shape, and start dance classes again. I could…..

Kitties and Other Special People

I know, animals are not people (technically) but all you animal lovers completely understand what I mean. We are united on this. Others do not, and may never understand, and that’s perfectly fine. We know what we are talking about.

For example, I used to think I live alone, but I changed my mind. I am counting my two kitties as persons of note and importance. Even though they sleep a good part of the day, they require almost as much attention and labor as a child and/or a spouse. They also give as much love as any member of a human family, just not the same type of conversation.

I have learned, however, to speak a certain level of kitty language. My training began when the kitties came to live with me four years ago when they were eight months old (one from a neighbor and one from our animal shelter) but five months apart in age. Dudley (the first one to arrive and the boss cat) is a half-breed long-hair. I swore I never would have a long-haired cat, but he was so charming when I went to see him I couldn’t resist. He is also very handsome.

Talk about work. That cat requires a bath once a month just to keep his hair from smothering us all. Plus, grooming every day (which he doesn’t get – maybe every other day sometimes). Anyway, back to kitty language. Dudley was very lonesome at first, what with missing his brother and his former family. He hid in the farthest corner of the utility room next to the furnace most of the time, coming out only to eat and relieve himself. By the way he is an Excellent Kitty due to the fact that he has NEVER messed in the house. I explained to him on his first day here that if he messed in the house he was going to the animal shelter, since his former family had moved.

Back to kitty language. In order to comfort and coax Dudley out of his dark, lonely corner I talked to him a lot during my daily activities, using my kitty voice and telling him how wonderful he is. You animal lovers know all about this. You also know about meowing at/with your lovable kitties – or barking/howling with your lovable doggies. (Well, if you don’t, I do). As a result of the kitty voice and the occasional meow, both my cats are eager and accomplished conversationalists.

Talk about living a spiritual life. When you have pets and you can carry on a two-way, clearly-understood conversation with them you are steeped in spirituality. Cross-species communication is pure heart-to-heart contact, and we animal lovers do it all the time.

Shortly after Dudley’s arrival, I decided it might be nice for him to have a companion of his own species. I visited the animal shelter several times intending to attract just the right kitty for us (me, really, since I didn’t feel qualified to choose for Dudley). There she was, a stocky little mostly-black tortoise shell (I figured a female was the better choice because males and females don’t fight) in a cage yowling as if she would explode if she didn’t get out of there immediately. When I opened the door, she jumped over my head (OVER MY HEAD!) and began patrolling the room looking for an escape. Of course, I loved her right away.

When we arrived home and I put the kitty carrier down, Dudley could hardly wait to see what was in it. I opened the door, and Fiona burst out hissing and went for the window sill like a shot. Those two cats spent the next eighteen months wrecking the walls under the window sills with their claws as Dudley chased Fiona around the house for a friendly game of tackle (which he never got).

Poor Fiona came from a traumatic background where she was one of 80 kitties. God knows how they lived. She wouldn’t let either of us touch her and wouldn’t come near us, either. It took a year of kitty conversations to convince her that we were trustworthy and lovable. Now she is the most affectionate cat and requires regular and enthusiastic attention on a daily basis. She purrs like a buzz saw.

Two years after they arrived, when I was sure they were through acting like crazed monsters (after all, they were 14 in dog years) I spackled the damaged walls and painted them. You can’t tell a thing.

Now that they are almost 4 years old (28 in dog years – I can’t help it) they have calmed down a great deal. They wait outside my bedroom door for me to wake up each morning (have you ever had cat hair up your nose and in your mouth?) and almost never have an altercation. More about that another time. Then they wait while I fix my cappuccino, and the three of us sit on the couch together while I allow the wake-up process to commence. This almost never varies, and I am very grateful.

You could do worse than live without cats. I’d hate to have to.

Numerology – Is It a Tool to Control You?

L'icona di Easy Numerology

Some people think that occult sciences and practices such as numerology, astrology, Tarot cards, and palmistry are just means to control them. Many people are afraid that if they have a consultation involving any of these modalities, the consultant will try to take over their lives. In addition, people fear the occult because it is associated with unfamiliar elements such as mind power, the paranormal, the supernatural, psychic phenomena, and extra-sensory perception. It’s easy to see why people feel this way. The occult sciences have been shrouded in mystery since ancient times in order for rulers to gain power and control over the masses.

But there is a positive side to the occult sciences. They were originally developed (no one actually knows how, when, or by whom) to assist us in our everyday lives. They remind us that we have the power to create our physical reality. Due to advances in modern science, we now have a perspective on the paranormal that we never had before. Quantum mechanics has enabled us to see that the paranormal is another aspect of reality, and physics and other sciences are showing us the limitless potential of thought energy.

People are waking up to their inner wisdom more than ever. Never before has there been so much interest in spiritual awareness. As people continue to search deeper, they begin to explore their psychic and intuitive abilities and eventually see these abilities as normal components of their consciousness. As we become more familiar with these little-known inner qualities in ourselves, ancient occult practices will become accepted as practical tools for modern times.

For example, numerology is one of the most practical tools for discovering who you are and where you came from. It provides the quickest and most accurate means of discovering your life purpose. Numerology doesn’t tell you what to do. It reveals the life plan you created before you entered life here. You made sure that your journey here would be successful by placing a how-to code in your birth name and birth date.

Numerology is not a limiting influence. It is an expansive influence. In reality, numerology reveals what you decided would be the most fulfilling and enjoyable life you could imagine. Even if you are one of the few who have always been aware of your path in life, numerology can help you enhance your own life and understand and appreciate those around you even more.

The occult sciences can be used to help us make decisions, to teach us to think for ourselves, to help us develop inner wisdom, and to become spiritually mature and fulfilled individuals. I highly recommend having your Chaldean Soul Chart cast by a reputable numerologist, your astrological profile cast by a reputable astrologer, your palm read by a reputable palm reader, and your Tarot cards read by a reputable Tarot reader.

Reputable practitioners of the occult sciences are not interested in running your life. Their deepest desire is to help you make your own decisions and guide you in creating a fulfilling life. I see the day coming when meeting with your numerologist will be no more out of the ordinary than meeting with your accountant. In fact, it is even now every bit as practical and informative.

I have found numerology to be so helpful to my clients and me that I love sharing it with everyone. I would love to receive your comments on my numerology articles. Let me know if you find them enlightening or informative, if you have questions, or if you disagree. I welcome your comments, and thank you in advance.
